He developed plastic containers used in households to contain food and keep it airtight. The formerly patented "burping seal" is a famous aspect of Tupperware, which distinguished it from competitors"....and the other choices "1933" and "1945" are before 1946 when it was developed. :-)

A google search for "tupperware + 1945" produces just as many claims that 1945 is correct. I guess it just depends what and where you search :)
